Bucket List Update: Get a Photograph Published

This isn’t quite what I had in mind when I included this aim on my Bucket List but I think it counts!

A few months ago I was contacted on Flickr by local charity Shakespeare Hospice. They wanted to use a photograph I took a few years ago of the River Avon in winter as the image for one of their Christmas cards this year. This is the picture they wanted to use:

Obviously being a charity they couldn’t pay, nor would I have asked them to. I agreed immediately. A few weeks ago they sent me four packs of the completed cards as a thank you. They are now available for sale in their charity shops and apparently are selling very well – though I’m told their cards always sell well.

The only downside is that there was a mix-up with the Hospice forgetting to send the printers my details, so it’s not credited to me, but I know which is the most important thing!

Here is the finished product:

I’d still like to get a photograph published in a book or magazine, or in an exhibition, but this satisfies the requirements for this Bucket List item in my eyes!

Edit 22/12/12 – My mom has sent these cards to all the close family and friends and yesterday we got a card back from some family friends who said their cousin had sent them my card! I was very excited to hear that it was actually being sent by people I don’t know!

About elentari86

Apparently blogs need to cover a certain niche in order to attract readers. My aim is not to attract readers. I don't deny it would be nice not to just be spouting to myself, but the reason I set this blog up was to give myself somewhere to write down my thoughts. If anyone reads them, that's a bonus. This blog will cover a mix of things - anything that comes to mind that I want to write about. I make no promises about how often I will publish new content.
