I stumbled across this video the other day. This is a group of musical comics (Antipodean, by their accents) called Axis of Awesome.
They’ve made a video to a song called ‘Four Chords’ which references multiple songs written around the same four chord structure:
It’s pretty funny and well worth watching, although they do seem to go into some of their other songs towards the end. One of the guys does a mean Lady Gaga!
On a similar note, this video has been around a long time. Comedian Rob Paravonian rants about how he used to play the cello and on the piece ‘Canon’ by Pachelbel (one of my favourite pieces of classical music) the cello has to play the same thing over and over. This mutates into Paravonian playing those chords over and over while singing excerpts from the various songs using them, exactly as the Axis of Awesome guys do. Also very funny!
