This caught my eye in the Metro this morning.
Cyclist Aziz Awang, of Malaysia, was competing in the men’s keirin event at the track cycling world cup. Near the end of the race three riders, including Awang, were involved in a collision and he ended up with a 25cm long splinter piercing right through his calf. (There’s a picture at the above link).
Then he got back on his bike and finished the race.
Chris Hoy won the race but Awang came in third, then was carried off by medics. Doctors had to operate to get the splinter out of him.
That’s what I call impressive!
