Malawi Tries To Ban Farting?

Apologies for the somewhat crude subject, but this is so bizarre I felt a post was called for!

According to this link there’s a legal argument taking place in Malawi at the moment over whether a new law prohibits farting in public.

The specific prohibition apparently dates from 1929 and reads:

Any person who vitiates the atmosphere in any place so as to make it noxious to the public to the health of persons in general dwelling or carrying on business in the neighbourhood or passing along a public way shall be guilty of a misdemeanour.

The Justice Minister insists that this includes farting, while the Solicitor General is much more sensible, stating that it only refers to pollution.

Apparently the Justice Minister wants people to go to the toilet if they need to fart. He’s assuming a lot of warning, evidently, as well as there always being an empty toilet within a few seconds walk of everywhere in the country.

Presumably if it’s a silent fart you’re ok!

Apparently blogs need to cover a certain niche in order to attract readers. My aim is not to attract readers. I don't deny it would be nice not to just be spouting to myself, but the reason I set this blog up was to give myself somewhere to write down my thoughts. If anyone reads them, that's a bonus. This blog will cover a mix of things - anything that comes to mind that I want to write about. I make no promises about how often I will publish new content.
