John Williams’ film themes performance

As I posted yesterday, the family and I went to Symphony Hall last night to see a performance by the London Concert Orchestra of various pieces of film music by John Williams. (The composer, not the guitarist).

The man’s an incredible talent – apparently he’s had 45 Oscar nominations for his music. According to his IMDB page he’s only won 5 times which I find difficult to believe!

The performance was great. They only did two pieces I didn’t know, Sayuri’s Theme from Memoirs of a Geisha and the theme from a film called Far And Away (I think!) that I’ve never heard of!

For a few of the films, such as Harry Potter, they played several pieces. They closed with 5 different pieces from Star Wars including the main theme and the Imperial March, before an encore of the Flying Theme from ET.

Jurassic Park gave me chills. LOVE IT.

About elentari86

Apparently blogs need to cover a certain niche in order to attract readers. My aim is not to attract readers. I don't deny it would be nice not to just be spouting to myself, but the reason I set this blog up was to give myself somewhere to write down my thoughts. If anyone reads them, that's a bonus. This blog will cover a mix of things - anything that comes to mind that I want to write about. I make no promises about how often I will publish new content.
